Shell Recharge Sets Malaysian Record – High Performance EV Charging Hub At High Altitude, Genting Highland

EV charging is the most important thing in EV ownership and every strategic charging location can increase the distance each EV travels to the end of the destination. Today Shell Recharge made history when it launched a High Performance EV charger at one of the highest locations in Malaysia, Resorts World Genting.

This charger located at an altitude of 1865m in front of the Highland Hotel has 10 charging bays with 4 of them being DC 360kW and the remaining 6 being AC 22kW. Using the ParkEasy application, users need to pay the charging reservation (Confirmation Fee) before starting charging and the parking space will be reserved for 10 minutes. For DC 360kW, the charging reservation fee is 10 credits (~RM 10) and the charging rate is 2.80 credits per kWh while for AC 22kW, the charging reservation fee is 8 credits (~RM 8) and will be charged 1.80 credits (~RM 1.80) per kWh. The charging reservation rate for this location is different from other locations and will be waived if the EV owner comes to charge within 10 minutes.

In comparison, this 360kW high-performance charging allows EVs that can receive the highest charging capacity such as the Porsche Taycan to charge 10-80% as fast as 18 minutes. Shell also shared that Porsche Taycan owners will receive a free 3-year Platinum membership, providing a 50% discount on charging up to 180kW DC. In fact, owners will also be able to reserve a charging space at a rate of RM 4 and receive 10% cashback when using an AC charger.

With the launch of Shell Recharge's first High Performance Charging Hub this will give EV users more range to head to the East Coast, as well as one of Malaysia's prestigious holiday destinations. To date there are 160 Shell Recharge charging sockets across Malaysia, and they also support EV charging networks in Thailand and Singapore. Shell Recharge Perasing was launched last Eid, and Shell Recharge in Paka will be announced soon.
