Last May, people began criticizing Spotify after discovering that free users were limited in seeing lyrics while the music was playing. For unlimited access, users need to subscribe to any Premium plan. Most recently, access to lyrics has been returned to free users.
According to Spotify, they just want to test new features to gather feedback. Restricting access to lyrics does not apply to all countries and devices, only a select few. Aware of public complaints, access to the lyrics will be returned to free users globally.
This lyrics feature will be coming back in stages but in my review, my own Spotify free account and my office mate's child's account were already able to see the lyrics. Spotify does not disclose the number of lyrics that are limited and whether their strategy is to increase the number of paid subscribers. Anyway, welcome back to enjoying lyrics for free on Spotify.
