The Swiss government has recently introduced a new law called "Federal Law on the Use of Electronic Means for the Fulfillment of Government Tasks" (EMBAG) under which government agencies are now required to use open source software for IT processes. them.

Not only that, under this EMBAG law, Swiss government agencies are also required to provide open access to data that does not contain any personal and sensitive details that can be used for malicious purposes.


This concept is called Open Government Data, where any data related to government policy can be accessed openly, and the processes used by the government can also be easily audited through the Free and Open Source Software Auditing Project.


The use of open source technology is also not something new.
