Microsoft has recently introduced a mandatory update to their Windows 10 operating system, specifically versions 21H2 and 22H2, where they will receive the KB5040427 update. Through this update, Microsoft will introduce the Copilot AI assistant function on the operating system.
This is because even though Windows 10 will end its official support in 2025, it is still the most used operating system, and Windows 11 has still not passed the desired amount of usage even though users will be obliged to switch to it next year.
For users who do not want Copilot on their Windows 10 computers, unfortunately the update is seen as a mandatory update that will need to be installed on all computers with that operating system, where it will be installed automatically.
The Copilot function will be pinned to your operating system's taskbar, replacing the AI widget used on that operating system. It will work as an application, and not deeply installed like what is shown on the Windows 11 operating system.
Microsoft also confirmed that while this update will be done globally, it will be done in stages soon, with certain markets receiving it first.
