United States Bans NGLs From Offering Services To Those Under 18

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) in the United States has now announced a ban on offering NGL applications to those under the age of 18. In addition to use, the application is also prohibited in terms of marketing to those under the age of 18.

NGL is one of the applications focusing on anonymity, allowing anyone to ask questions anonymously to the owner of the NGL account. Since its launch in 2021, it has been quite popular for people to use it through social media to allow anyone to ask questions anonymously.

NGL was taken into action by the FTC due to several complaints received, including NGL not having a team to filter questions in the form of harm and bullying, in addition to NGL itself being found to be using falsely generated questions to ensure the active platform is used and lead to users subscribing to NGL's paid services. The FTC also stated that NGL has used a question generator and sent to NGL users to ensure they do not lose interest and use of the application.

The FTC stated that after this, NGL needs to implement barriers from users under 18 years of age using the application, in addition to NGL being prohibited from sending false messages to users, as well as not deceiving in the AI system's ability to filter content. NGL is also requested to inform users of recurring charges incurred under the service subscription.
