Updated – Hackers Claim to Have Succeeded in Stealing the Data of 4 Million U Mobile Customers

Around 4 million data claims belonging to U Mobile customers were sold through the Breachforum black market yesterday. Hackers are asking $5000 for this user data that has been successfully stolen.

When contacted by Us, U Mobile issued the statement below.

“U Mobile is aware of the recent alleged data breach. We are actively investigating this situation. We are working closely with the authorities to deal with this matter effectively and will provide relevant updates as soon as confirmed information becomes available. We would like to assure all stakeholders that we take cybersecurity and data privacy matters seriously and are dedicating all resources to thoroughly investigate this situation.”

Breachforum has become a trading place for various personal data that are easily stolen by hackers. Some data leaks from Malaysia have also previously been offered through this forum. Although the operator of the site has been put on the FBI's wanted list and the original site has been seized, it is still operating under a new address.
