The popularity of Apple's AirDrop as a fast file sharing feature has finally been answered by many device manufacturers each with their own iterations. Google and Samsung with Quick Share, Microsoft with Nearby sharing on Windows 11, Xiaomi with Mi Share and many more. Recently, WhatsApp also wants to offer more or less the same file sharing feature.
This feature is seen being tested on the WhatsApp app for iPhone. This feature is called Nearby share and it also works like AirDrop because files such as documents, pictures, videos and others can be shared quickly without any Internet access. Only, this version of WhatsApp does not use technology to detect nearby WhatsApp users because it requires users to scan a QR code before starting to share.
For now, this feature is still in the testing stage and it is not certain when it will be rolled out to all users. Hopefully, this feature will support cross-platform iOS and Android so that those who are not familiar with the Quick Share feature can easily share files with many people without the Internet. Let's wait together.
