Google has recently been seen to have a monopoly of the search engine market. Because of that, the United States authorities are reportedly looking at several measures to control the situation, including breaking up the company into several other small companies.
According to a Bloomberg report, it is said that the authorities are looking at asking Google to separate the Android operating system and also the Chrome web browser as separate companies. These two platforms are said to be among the ones that led to Google's monopoly in the search engine arena.
In addition, the authorities are also looking at AdWords to be separated - which is Google's platform that focuses on advertising in the search engine. This will also allow AdWords technology to be used on other search engines such as Bing.
The United States authorities are reportedly looking at some of these steps in reducing Google's dominance in the search engine arena. In any case, it is not yet known whether this step will be taken, or whether Google will be able to overcome it through an appeal that is expected to be heard in court around September.
