Google has a Nest product which is a smart screen that is a smart home control hub since 2018. Apple still does not have a similar product in the market. According to a Bloomberg report this morning, Apple is continuing a project to develop a permanent smart screen with the support of a robotic hand.
This is a continuation of Apple's plans to develop a HomePod with a screen that began to be heard two years ago. According to Bloomberg, this new smart screen maintains a screen the size of an iPad but is placed on the tip of a robotic hand that is attached to a base on a table. This hand will rotate automatically according to the direction of the user.
So if a smart screen is used during a FaceTime session, it can follow users who may be walking in a room. In addition to rotating it can also go up or down and rotate to change the orientation of the screen. It can accept Siri voice commands and has built-in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The product is still under development and is expected to be offered as early as 2026 or as late as 2027.
