As promised in March last year, Amazon has finally activated the AWS Region in Malaysia starting today. AWS Region will enable various related data to be stored in Malaysia and at the same time offer low latency rates for services used in the country.
With AWS Region in Malaysia, they will invest $6.2 billion (~RM 27 billion) in Malaysia by 2038 which will increase economic growth and help local businesses and the public sector to innovate.
In total, it is estimated that 3500 jobs will be created every year through the AWS Region with it adding RM 57.3 billion to Malaysia's GDP within a decade. Finally, AWS aims for a more sustainable operation with the target of zero carbon operations by 2040 and water positive by 2030 in order to be more responsible for the environment.
