Ban on Flying Drones in National Day Celebration Locations Until August 31, 2024

Any activity of operating drones without approval at any location for the preparation and celebration of National Day throughout the country is prohibited starting from 26 to 31 August 2024. This instruction was issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) through a statement on the official social media site.

It was also informed that the ban was aimed at ensuring the preparation and celebration of National Day could be carried out safely. At the same time avoid the occurrence of any unwanted incident especially involving the safety aspects of the public and the team involved in the celebration. The act of flying drones without permission is also feared to disrupt training and low formation flight shows in several focal locations throughout the specified date.

The public is also reminded that any aviation activity including the operation of drone activities that may invite risk and danger to the public or property is subject to section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3); regulation 98, regulation 140-144, Civil Aviation Regulations 2016 and Civil Aviation Directives (CADs).
