Canalys – Global Smartphone Market to Grow 12% in Q2 2024

The worldwide smartphone market continued to experience rapid growth in Q2 2024 with total sales reaching 288.9 million units. It is 12% higher than Q2 2023. What is even more important is that the market is now recording quarter-on-quarter growth for the third time in a row as stated in Canalys' latest report. This is driven by the rate of innovation and functional improvement of existing products to creatively meet consumer needs.

Based on Canalys' latest statistics, Samsung once again leads the list with a total figure of 53.5 million units. This is contributed by its flagship device lineup which continues to play an important role in driving that growth. Next, Apple is seen in second place with 45.6 million shipments and 16% market share which also shows a strong performance in North America and the Asia Pacific region.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is third on the list with the biggest sales growth of 27% compared to others. It sold 42.3 million devices for a 15% market share. Vivo is in fourth place with 25.9 million shipments and 9% market share. In fifth place is Transsion (Tecno, Infinix and iTel) which sold 25.5 million units with a 9% market share. Transsion sales also showed an increase of 12% compared to 9% in Q2 2023.

Canalys predicts that the smartphone industry will reach a relatively good level compared to 2023. With uncertain consumer demand in the coming year, manufacturers are suggested to focus on how to deliver the best experience to attract consumers. Then able to further strengthen each other's position to be better in the future.
