The Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil has now informed that four telecommunications companies have submitted bids for the tender for the development of the country's second 5G telecommunications network. The four companies in question are CelcomDigi, Maxis, Telekom Malaysia, and also U Mobile.
This at the same time makes only YTL that did not submit a second 5G network development bid, and has a stake in Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).
The final result of the selection is expected to be based on the respective bids that have been sent by telecommunication companies. The Minister said they will not be involved in this matter, and everything will be managed by the SKMM.
The winner for the development of the country's second 5G network is expected to be announced before the end of 2024.
