The platform provider Meta will hold a meeting with the Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil next Monday to discuss the issue of content reduction related to the Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, especially involving the official social media account of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently.
The meeting will discuss the explanation thoroughly and some things need to be confirmed before making a detailed statement about the issue. In the meantime, Fahmi said, he has been informed that the head of state or government officials are indeed given special consideration when discussing Palestine.
It is a guarantee given verbally by Meta's highest authority to him. Therefore, he has requested that a full explanation can be obtained from Meta. At the same time want to see how well Meta will translate their guarantee.
"On Monday the Meta team will come to meet with the government. So we want the meeting to go smoothly. Meta has informed that heads of state or heads of government and officials or ministers are indeed given special consideration when discussing the issue of Palestine."
"This has been guaranteed to me verbally by a relatively high official at Meta. They will meet to explain why the content (post) of the pm was taken down. I understand from Meta that his Facebook (FB) has a verification mark, and the head of government is indeed given leeway."
"I have also been informed about what happened but I want them to come and give a full explanation. There are some questions we want to ask and after the meeting we will issue a statement."
He said this directly during the press conference for the launch of the #KasiJadi campaign by J&T Express on Saturday. Earlier, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had expressed his regret at Meta's actions in uploading the video and his condolences to the Haniyeh family. Next such action is considered inappropriate but a deeper explanation is still needed for it.
