Google TV Streamer Is First In The World With Android TV 14

A few days ago, Google TV Streamer was launched as a replacement for Chromecast with Google TV. The introduction of Google's own TV box is also the end point for Chromecast devices. This new TV box is powerful enough with 4GB RAM memory and a MediaTek MT8696 chip which is the same chip on the Amazon Fire TV Stick Max (2021). Google TV Streamer is also the world's first TV box running Google TV based on Android TV 14.

Usually, when a new Android TV is released it is restricted to developers. Devices for users will receive versions of two generations before. For example now, most Android TV or Google TV devices still use Android TV 12 and only the more modern ones with Android TV 13. For Android TV 14, even developers don't have access to the device because it's limited in the display only. With the Google TV Streamer being Google's first TV box, updates will be faster and rival devices could potentially run new versions of Google TV sooner than they are now.
