GPD is an electronics brand from Hong Kong known for their laptop and PC console offerings. Recently, with the launch of the latest series of AMD Ryzen AI processing chips, they seem to have revealed their latest laptop, the GPD Pocket 4.
This console comes with an 8.8-inch screen display at a resolution of 2560×1600 with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX370 processing chip with 12 physical cores, LPDDR5X memory up to 64GB and also a PCIe 4.0 SSD storage offering of 2TB or 4TB.
In terms of input/output plug offerings, it is equipped with one USB4 Type-C plug, one USB 3.2 Type-C plug, one USB 3.2 Type-A plug, one USB 2.0 Type-A plug, one HDMI 2.1 plug, one audio plug 3.5mm and one RJ-45 Ethernet plug.
The uniqueness of the GPD Pocket computer comes through its modular system, where users can choose additional modules to connect to this computer. For this GPD Pocket 4 model, the modules offered include a MicroSD card reader, a VGA plug module and a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch module.
The compact design of this GPD Pocket computer is very useful as a computer used to fix various IT-related problems, but the processing power present makes it a laptop comparable to models two or three times its size.
According to some reports, the GPD Pocket 4 will be sold in October 2024 in some selected markets. Our review of the GPD site indicates that the product page has been taken down for the time being.
