Have you ever imagined or not, what if the camera on a smartphone does not use any AI or go through any imaging processing such as color algorithms and so on? I once imagined this, it would be the first concept of the camera to be introduced which is just capturing light. Most recently, you can try it with the Halide camera app.
Halide is one of the most popular iOS camera apps. It offers a lot of manual controls and is more suitable for professional users or ordinary users who want to try pro controls. The new feature introduced is Process Zero. This feature will take a 12 Megapixel photo directly without going through any processing using any algorithm in iOS. Image files are saved in RAW DNG format giving the user freedom of editing. The test capture process is faster and the results are excellent with natural-looking skies and sharp details.
Not only that, Halide also allows users to change other RAW images that have been processed in the iPhone to be more "raw" as if the picture was taken with Process Zero mode through Image Lab. This feature was introduced because the RAW format in iOS uses Apple's own ProRAW system which has gone through special image processing. Halide can be downloaded for free but to use it a monthly subscription of RM52.99 is required or RM299 paid once for life.
