Infrastructure Victims of Ransomware Attacks – Confirmed by the Minister of Transport

Prasarana, the conglomerate company behind a number of Malaysian public services such as Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd which operates the KTM, LRT, Monorail and MRT train systems and Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd which operates the RapidKL system appears to have been attacked by the RansomHub hacker group recently.

This was first reported by FalconFeeds on X/Twitter, where RansomHub said they had stolen 316GB of the company's data, and would act to make it all public within a week.

This matter also seems to have been confirmed by Transport Minister Anthony Loke through an announcement by BFM radio station just now. Anthony Loke also said that he has instructed Prasarana to look into how the hack happened, and what data was stolen from the company.

For now, the details of this hack are still not public yet.

Update: The @AskRapidKL X/Twitter account has confirmed that Infrastructure data has been hacked and is dealing with the situation together with cyber security experts as well as the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The statement shows that the RansomHub hacker group has gained access to several IT systems under the auspices of Prasarana, and locked the data using ransomware and stole the 316GB of data that was said before.

RapidKL also confirmed that the hack attack did not affect the daily operations of all services under RapidRail and RapidKL, but will update the public with new information about the attack later.
