Intel Core Gen-13 and Gen-14 Chip Warranty Period Extended Up to Five Years

Intel confirmed a few weeks ago that their 13th and 14th generation Intel Core chips had high voltage issues due to software. If this incident occurs, the chip will suffer permanent damage that can only be resolved by performing an RMA replacement. Today Intel said the warranty period for these desktop chips will be extended for another two years to customers according to Tom's Hardware report.

By default Intel provides a three-year warranty for the chips they manufacture. With this announcement the chip will be guaranteed for five years. For customers who have not experienced high voltage issues, this extension will provide some relief for a longer period. Regarding this issue, Intel promises a software update will be provided this month but the date has not been announced yet.
