LG Demands Compensation From Apple For Canceling Apple Watch MicroLED Project

MicroLED is a superior screen panel technology compared to OLED. It has a brighter screen, more accurate colors, less risk of tuna-screen (burn-in) and also saves power. Apple had planned to use this screen on the new Apple Watch Ultra by ordering from LG, however this project was canceled and LG is now reportedly demanding compensation.

Apple's reason for canceling it is because of the cost of development and expensive microLED screen manufacturers just for the watch. Instead, microLEDs will be used in iPhones, iPads and MacBooks. However, due to the fact that Apple had initially discussed with LG and LG had prepared including making investments, appointing new people for proper positions, moving machines in the factory and more with around hundreds of billions of Won have been spent. According to The Elec, although LG does not have any official contract with Apple they still want compensation for the preparations that have been made.

Apple has not given any feedback on this matter. For the time being, it seems that it will be too late for us to see microLED screens used in Apple products. what do you say
