Meta and UMG have previously worked together to enable the use of content such as songs and videos on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Most recently, the two parties also renewed the agreement, and now also covers two more platforms, namely WhatsApp and Threads.
With this step too, it indirectly shows that Meta will offer a number of content through WhatsApp later. UMG stated that this new license extends to short videos, and at the same time will license music to WhatsApp, at the same time offering a number of new values to the artists under UMG in the future.
For now, it is still unknown what new features on WhatsApp will use this licensing. With this development, let's all look forward to what new features on WhatsApp will integrate this catalog of UMG songs and artists.
