Micron Technology announced they have begun mass production of 9th generation NAND Flash that offers faster data transfer speeds than other NANDs on the market. According to Micron NAND G9 is able to provide a data transfer rate of up to 3.6 GB/s.
In addition it also has the highest memory density allowing it to have a size that is up to 28% smaller for a comparable memory size. At the same time, G9 NAND has been used on the M.2 Micron 2650 NVMe SSD, which scored higher in the PCMark 10 test than competing products.
This SSD managed to record a speed increase of up to 70% better in sequential reading, up to 103% better in sequential writing, up to 156% better in random reading and up to 85% better in random reading. The Micron 2650 NVMe is offered in 256, 512 and 1000 GB storage options.
