Minister : Social Platforms Need to Put an "AI" Label on AI Generated Content Uploaded

The Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil has now stated that the government wants social media platforms to put an AI or "Artificial Intelligence" label on every AI-generated content that is uploaded on their respective platforms. This step is expected to reduce any confusion or unwanted incidents.

As many are aware, nowadays many people upload content generated based on artificial intelligence, and sometimes it is misused. In fact, recently, there was an incident where sales promotion was done using the voice of popular influencer Khairulaming. The influencer's voice is used to generate a dialogue in the form of sales, which is then uploaded to social platforms. No labels are included, leaving users confused about the content.

The Minister also emphasized that licensing for social media is necessary, to ensure that all these social media companies are responsible when incidents like this happen, and that it does not take long to fix or fix something.

For information, today Facebook and YouTube include labeling support for content generated based on artificial intelligence, but the label needs to be added manually when sharing. On the X platform or formerly known as Twitter, it still does not include any labels for now. Perhaps we will have to wait for the feedback related to this by the social media platforms, and how they will overcome the problem of this generated content in the coming months which is expected to continue to escalate.
