RansomHub Has Been Used To Hack Over 200 Companies And Institutions Since February 2024 – FBI

Last week, we reported that local conglomerate Prasarana was hacked using the RansomHub ransomware service, and that 316GB of the company's data was stolen.

It seems that the matter is not something unique to the company. RansomHub appears to have been used by various hacker groups to attack over 200 companies in the United States and abroad to date.

This matter was reported by a combination of several United States government agencies such as the FBI, CISA, Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Their announcement says that this hacking service has stolen and locked data from at least 210 companies and institutions from the water and sewage sector, IT, government services, government and health facilities, emergency services, financial and banking services and others.

For this, these four government bodies advise to tighten the security of their IT systems, and to use technologies such as Multi-Factor Authorization and the use of VPNs to access critical systems for the company's survival. The company's security audit is also important to ensure that the employees do not become a weak point for them.

Companies affected by the RansomHub hack attack are also advised not to pay any ransom to get their data back. This is because paying the ransom does not guarantee that they will get their data back.
