Samsung Odyssey 3D Monitor Does Not Need Glasses To View 3D Content



The Samsung Odyssey 3D monitor was launched by Samsung at the Gamescon event today with it being able to display three-dimensional content without the user wearing special glasses. It is offered in two sizes which are 27″ and 32″ with a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.



Light Field Display (LFD) technology, eye tracking and View Mapping are used to enable 3D content to be displayed on the screen. A pair of cameras on the front of the screen track to the user allowing 3D objects to move parallel to the eye view. Odyssey 3D can still be used as a normal 2D monitor if needed.


The monitor is mounted to a base that allows height, and rotation is performed. Another feature included is FreSync Premium for video playback sessions. It also supports input using 1x HDMI 2.1, and 1x DP 1.4 The sales price of Samsung Odyssey 3D has not yet been announced at this time.
