Saudi Arabia wants to host the World Cup 2034. The document explaining their organizing plan has been published by FIFA and interestingly the Saudi government wants to build a football stadium that is located on top of a 350 meter high building. The NEOM Stadium will be built in the world's longest building The Line with a capacity of over 46,000 residents.
If chosen to host the 2034 World Cup, the stadium will be built in 2027 and fully completed by 2032. Construction of the first phase of The Line has already begun and is expected to be completed in 2030. Because The Line is a city within a building, transportation to the stadium is using rail system built without any use of conventional wheeled vehicles.
The stadium will have a covered roof that offers a unique immersive gaming experience as no stadium has ever been built on a building this tall. The power source will be generated entirely using solar panels and wind to make it a sustainable stadium.
The Line and the NEOM Stadium are just two of the dozens of modernization projects that the Saudi Arabian government has announced to change their image from a petroleum-producing country to a popular regional tourist center. Other mega projects are a ski center with crystal skyscrapers, the world's deepest underground building and a resort with the world's longest swimming pool.
