Sonos Won't Launch All Old Apps

The new Sonos application that was launched a few months ago was widely criticized for being unstable and problematic. It forced the company's CEO Patrick Spence to issue an apologetic statement. Recently, old apps that were previously being considered for return are now confirmed not to be relaunched.

Through a discussion on Reddit, Spence said old apps cannot be relaunched. This is because, the Sonos application is not only an application that controls the settings on their audio products but also the operating system that runs on the product and also on the cloud system. After the new app was launched, Sonos has been using the new platform and in their internal tests they found that the old app known as Sonos S2 is no longer as stable as it used to be.

Sonos has promised to provide monthly updates to make the new app complete with the same features and functions as the old app. Meanwhile, the CEO of Sonos also promised to regularly go to Reddit to answer various user questions to ensure that their application is perfect and that people can still trust Sonos.
