The government, through the Communications and Multimedia Commission, is ready to block the transmission of links between individuals using SMS since last year. Moving forward, starting next month, all SMS containing content such as URL links, personal information and even phone numbers will be blocked from being sent.
This measure will be enforced starting September 1, 2024. This is done to continue to improve security and privacy, while reducing the problem of fraud through SMS.
This restriction will also be applied when a user is in roaming mode abroad.
Alternatively, some telecommunication companies suggest that users use other messaging applications for the purpose of sharing links or information with family or close friends.
