Susan Wojcicki, Former YouTube CEO and Google Founding Figure Dies

Susan Diane Wojcicki, who held the position of CEO of YouTube from 2014 to 2023, died today at the age of 56 due to cancer. The announcement of his death was made by Google CEO Sundar Pichai a while ago.

The late Wojcicki was involved in the establishment of Google in 1998 when he rented out his garage in Menlo Park to be used as an office by the Google founder. He also became Google's first marketing manager in 1999, and later led its online advertising and video services businesses.

In addition, Wojcicki is the person who suggested that Google buy YouTube in 2006. He was appointed as CEO in 2014 and resigned in February 2023 but at that time the reason was not given but now it is revealed to seek treatment. This is the second tragedy to strike his family because last February, his son Marco Troper was found dead on the University of California campus due to excessive drug abuse.
