The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has now shared that the government will launch the Governance and Ethics Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence (AI), before the end of 2024. The guidelines were also developed together with the Digital Ministry, and are now said to be in the final phase.
Once it is completed, it will be presented to the Cabinet first, before it is generally launched.
Artificial intelligence has become a hot topic in the last year or two, with various parties investing in the arena. With the existence of these guidelines, it is expected to help in the development and better use of artificial intelligence in Malaysia, including in terms of data use, privacy and so on - while also helping further in the development of the arena.
