The Tesla Optimus humanoid robot is now in Malaysia with it on display at the Kuala Lumpur Pavillion. It was brought in conjunction with the Tesla exhibition that starts today August 6 until August 11. Based on the image shared through Tesla Malaysia's official Instagram page, only one Optimus will be displayed next to the Model Y and Model 3 cars.
Tesla Optimus is a robot developed for the purpose of replacing human workers in the Tesla factory. Elon Musk originally said the robot would start being sold to interested companies in 2025 but was later delayed to 2026. It was seen as Tesla's effort to give competition to other robotics companies such as Boston Dynamics.
Through sharing on social media, Optimus can walk slowly, dance in groups and fold clothes. In terms of dexterity it is still behind the Atlas robot by Boston Dynamics which can not only run but can do somersaults like an acrobat and help workers on construction sites.
