Vivo V40 and V40 Pro were officially announced in Malaysia today. Both offer mid-range specifications with a focus on better camera systems, especially involving portrait photography. The interior hardware is also enhanced with a body that has been given a new breath to appear elegant in its class.
Starting with the Vivo V40 Pro which uses a 6.78″ curved AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chip with a memory option of 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. Also followed is Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 latest launcher support for an enhanced device experience. The included 5500mAh battery can be charged via USB-C port and 80W fast charging.
In addition, a tri-sensor 50MP (ZEISS) is used on the back with the ability to main, ultra wide angle and telephoto portrait. A total of five focal lengths are offered on the device's camera, namely 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 100mm. Followed by up to seven ZEISS bokeh effects to choose from including Biotar, B-speed, Sonnar, Plannar, Distagon, Cine-flare and Cinematic.
As an option, users can also choose the bokeh effect with the focal length adjusted directly through the Portrait Lens Kit feature. Selfie photos can be taken with the 50 MP ZEISS front camera. Other specifications provided include a stereo audio system, NFC, IP68 & IP69 waterproofing and NFC.
The Vivo V40 is also equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz curved screen. This is combined with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, 12GB RAM LPDDR4X memory and 512GB UFS 2.2 storage as the mainstay. Then the latest launcher Funtouch OS 14 built based on Android 14 is also used as a complement.
No telephoto camera is provided instead the device only packs a 50MP dual-sensor (ZEISS) for prime and ultra-wide capabilities. Selfies can be taken using the 50 MP ZEISS front camera. A 5500 mAh battery is also provided with it supporting 80W wired charging. Other specifications are IP68 & IP69 waterproof, stereo audio system and bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
In Malaysia the device is sold starting at RM1,999 for the V40 model (256GB) and RM2,399 (512GB). Meanwhile, the Vivo V40 Pro is priced at RM3,299 (12/256GB). Pre-order is open now until 30 August 2022 with a free gift worth RM1,604 which includes DJI Osmo Mobile SE, Vivo TWS 3e and an additional one-year warranty. A lower price offer worth RM1,899 is also given for V40 purchases made through TikTok Shop.
