The WhatsApp messaging application is consistently coming up with improvements in various latest functions and features to improve the user experience. Therefore, today WhatsApp is reportedly developing a username feature along with PIN support.
Through it, users can choose the unique name they want for the username to replace the phone number that was previously used as a search for the WhatsApp account. For example, another user can search for a WhatsApp account by simply entering a username such as "thecekodok123" instead of a phone number.
The latest update that is being developed indirectly improves the privacy and security features where users no longer need to distribute personal phone numbers to everyone to send messages on WhatsApp. Not only that, this feature will also certainly make the search process easier when compared to searching using a phone number.
Along with the username feature, WhatsApp has also developed a PIN code feature where it will work as identity verification if there is a foreign WhatsApp account number that wants to start sending text messages. Through it, the user needs to set up a PIN of four digits or more and this PIN will be needed by the new contact to start sending messages through the user's name as well as reducing unwanted messages from being sent arbitrarily.
This means, when someone tries to contact you via the username for the first time, they will be asked to enter the PIN you have set. For existing text messages, a PIN is no longer required.
Features like this give users greater and more efficient control over who can contact them and can reduce the amount of unwanted messages. But according to WhatsApp, this feature is still under development and will be available in future updates.
