WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow WhatsApp users to interact with the Meta AI chatbot using voice. Previously Meta AI could only interact with users using typed text. The Meta AI chatbot will then reply to messages typed in text only at this point.
This feature is only available to a small group of users of WhatsApp beta version 2.24.16.10 for Android. Users who have signed up for the Google Play Beta program will be able to access the chat room interface and see the Meta AI voice message icon.
This feature is seen as useful for WhatsApp users who have difficulty typing as it offers an easier way to interact with AI. The way to use this feature is also said to be similar to the existing voice message feature by requiring the user to press and hold the button to speak and then release it once done.
It is currently unknown how many languages will be supported in the voice message feature with this Meta AI. Although, this feature can only be used by users enrolled in the Google Play Beta program, the plan is to enable all users to use this feature in the coming weeks.
