The Windows Recall feature was supposed to be available on Copilot+ PCs last June but was delayed due to issues involving user privacy. Today Microsoft confirmed that Recall will be given to Windows Insider users first next October.
This will be another test period before Microsoft gives it to all Copilot+ PCs that have already gone on sale. They have yet to provide details on what changes have been made since the issue of privacy became the talk of many users who accessed this feature earlier.
For those who haven't been keeping up with Recall, the main issue is that it uses screenshots to collect usage data. Screenshot files are not encrypted and any confidential information such as credit card numbers may be captured and stored without permission. If this screenshot file is accessed by hackers, it will pose a high risk to users.
