Signify, the smart lighting and lighting company under the leading electrical appliance brand Philips, has recently started bringing in their smart lighting accessory, WiZ. Slightly different from Philips Hue, WiZ comes with an easier installation, as well as introducing users to more extensive technology support.
Where Philips Hue comes with a hub component that needs to be connected to a WiFi router, WiZ smart lights don't need all that, and can be connected directly through the WiZ app that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Just like Hue, the user can modify the brightness of the lights, the color tone, the opening and closing settings, the zones of the installed lights and so on through the WiZ application. Unique features like WiZ SpaceSense allow users to use WiFi waves on these lights to detect movement around them which can be used as a way to turn on the lights without having to press a switch.
In the meantime, it also supports Matter's open source IoT connection, and can be connected to Google Home and Apple HomeKit applications. But according to Signify, the connection to these platforms comes with limited support such as turning the lights on and off and modifying the brightness of the lights only.
Signify Malaysia said that WiZ products have already started to be offered in official online stores Shopee Malaysia and Lazada Malaysia, and soon, more WiZ products such as lights for the home and also security camera products will be offered as well.
