Xiaomi is rumored to launch their first buttonless smartphone early next year. The device with the code name Zhuque will not have physical control buttons but instead will be replaced by a touch pad that detects pressure, detects gestures and is controlled using voice.
Other leaked specifications are that it will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 chip and have an under-screen selfie camera. It is targeting a launch between April and June 2025. Previous attempts to produce a buttonless device have not been successful. The Meizu Zero was the first to be produced but failed to get a response when launched through the Indiegogo site.
Then Oppo showed a buttonless concept device in 2018 and Vivo Apex 2020 in 2020. Is it after four years that modern technology will finally allow buttonless devices to be accepted by consumers?
