YouTube Expands Feature of Adding Context Notes to Videos to More Users

Nowadays, fake news is very easy to spread. Then with the development of generative AI technology, more misleading and inaccurate content is spread. Recently YouTube has expanded the feature of adding context notes to videos as Community Notes in X to more users.

This feature was first introduced last June, but was limited to a few users only. This feature allows users to add real context to videos that may have confusing titles, inaccurate content, or even AI-generated content. To use it, users need to register and wait for an invitation from Google.

So far, this context note feature is called Add note, this still has no official name. It is also limited to users who have a YouTube account that is more than 6 months old, have not violated community guidelines within 12 months, the account is not supervised by another user, is not a school or brand account and only has one account.

YouTube also restricts users in the United States who speak English only. Each note will also be monitored and checked before being made public. This feature was developed in hopes of curbing content with false and misleading information. For me it is quite useful and hopefully it will arrive in Malaysia sooner.
