The Merdeka 118 building has just been crowned as the second tallest building in the world earlier this year but its status has been confirmed to be usurped by the Burj Azizi located in Dubai. Burj Azizi which is scheduled to be completed in 2028 will reach a height of 725 meters which exceeds the height of 678.9 meters Merdeka 118.
This construction project will cost $1.5 billion when it is completed. It will house residences, offices, shopping malls, and a 7-star hotel. When the project was announced last February, the final height of Burj Azizi was still kept a secret by the development. Dubai will be the city that houses the world's two tallest buildings in four years.
The world's tallest building record is still held by Burj Khalifa which reaches 828 meters. However, Burj Azizi will hold the record as the building with the tallest restaurant, nightclub and observation deck in the world.
