Discord Now Updated With Encrypted Voice And Video Calls

Discord is a text, voice and video communication application used by all walks of life to develop different types of communities. Every few months, Discord seems to introduce new features and updates to the application that make it a fun and safe platform to use.

Recently, Discord has announced that they will be introducing an update that will encrypt all voice and video calls end-to-end, and this basically means that the content of voice and video calls in DMs, channels and even live streams will only be accessible to call participants- this call, and not the other parties.

With this update, Discord also introduced Discord A/V E2EE or better known as DAVE Protocol, where all updates related to voice and video calls made will be updated on the repository for the public to read.

According to Discord, this end-to-end encryption update is already here and introduced for their desktop and mobile apps, and updates for other platforms such as the web and so on will follow soon.

For now, it appears that the only type of messaging that won't be encrypted is text messages, which are subject to the oversight of Discord's own developers.
