Ford has now filed a patent to display advertisements directly on the inforia system, based on a driver's tastes. This may also indirectly be part of a form of income, apart from selling the vehicle itself.
Through a registered patent, it uses a number of data in displaying an advertisement – including driving distance, destination, driving speed, etc. Related advertisements are displayed directly on the display screen of the inforia system itself.
For example, if a driver is driving to a shopping mall, then related product ads will be displayed leading to a higher percentage of purchases. Likewise when heading to another location.
Anyway, as always, this is just a patent registration, and it is not yet known whether it will be actually implemented by Ford or otherwise.
