Google Meet Can Now Take Meeting Notes Automatically

Google finally activated the automatic note-taking feature in Google Meet today. Through the "Take notes for me" feature, notes will be taken automatically by Meet using artificial intelligence (AI) and then summarization will also be done to make it easier for participants to find important topics discussed again.

At this point it only supports Meet teleconference sessions in English only. In addition, the notes produced are saved in Google Docs format which can then be sent to all participants automatically. This is a continuation of the automatic transcription feature introduced last year. It was already available to a small number of Google Workspace customers last year.

To use this automatic note-taking feature, you need to be a Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium subscriber, and install the AI Meetings & Messaging feature in Meet. The feature is still being phased in until September 10, 2024.
