Huawei today officially introduced their tri-fold phone, named Huawei Mate XT. The introduction of Huawei at the same time makes them the first in the world to introduce a device with a design like this commercially for the public to buy.
Through this tri-fold design, it allows users to use it as a normal phone at a size of 6.4-inches, or partially open it to make it 7.9-inches, or open it entirely and make it a 10.2-inch device. Huawei uses an OLED panel on this smartphone, but does not specify the processing chip that powers this device. Because it offers a tri-fold design, it is thicker than Samsung's foldable phone.
Completing this smartphone is also a 5600mAh battery with 66W fast charging support, a combined 50MP + 12MP + 12MP tri-rear camera, in addition to an 8-megapixel selfie camera positioned through a hole on the screen. It comes in variants offering 16GB RAM with 256GB storage, up to 16GB RAM with 1TB storage.
Huawei uses Harmony OS on this smartphone, and also includes a fingerprint scanner on the side of the device. For now, this tri-fold phone is only offered in China, at a starting price of 19,999 Yuan, which is around RM12,205. It is not known when Huawei will offer it for markets outside of China.
