James Cameron Joins the Board of Directors of Stability AI



Prominent director James Cameron has officially joined the board of artificial intelligence (AI) company Stability AI. Cameron carved a name in the film world by directing films such as Terminator 2, Aliens, Titanic and the Avatar series. The three films he directed hold the highest grossing records at the cinema with each grossing more than $2 billion.



According to Cameron, he joined Stability AI because he saw an overlap between generative AI and special effects using computers. He wants to see how generative AI can be used by creators to help them create stories. As a veteran in the industry, he was also one of the first directors to use fully computer generated special effects in the film The Abyss.


Stability AI is a company that produces Stable Diffusion which generates images and also short videos based on text. Besides that it has also launched Stable Video 4D which can generate 3D objects based on 2D images only.
