JPJ Opens Bidding for Special "EV" Number Plates for Electric Vehicles

JPJ opens bidding for EV number plates from today September 9 to September 13. The number plate can only be used on fully electric vehicles (EVs) as it will make it easier for owners to distinguish their vehicles from ICE vehicles.

Owners of hybrid vehicles cannot bid on this number plate. The bid results will be announced on September 14. There is a reason why special number plates were introduced to facilitate enforcement. For example, there have been various incidents of ICE vehicles being parked at EV vehicle chargers, making it difficult for owners who want to continue their journey.

It will also make it easier for the fire department to identify the EV vehicle involved in an accident and do what is necessary to put out the fire more effectively if it catches fire.

The number plate of this vehicle is expected to start with the letters EV, and is offered from the numbers 1 to 9999 like a normal number plate, and is expected to continue with EVA, EVB and so on. To bid, please go to the JPJ link below.
