The Apple A18 and A18 Pro chips were just announced yesterday with it being the "engine" for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. Every year Apple is secretive about the specifications of the chip so the real information about the performance will only be known after the device is purchased. Today the leaked Geekbench 6 benchmark scores for the A18 and A18 Pro show a slight improvement.
In the single core test the A18 scored 3114 while the A18 Pro scored 3018. Meanwhile, in the multi-core test, the A18 scored 6666 while the A18 Pro scored 7751. It is quite strange that the A18 Pro's single-core score is 3.1% lower than the A18. Only in the multi-core test is the A18 Pro's score 16.3% higher. Based on this synthetic test, the difference between the two chips is not that far.
When compared to the A17 Pro chip, the A18 Pro single-core score is only 3.5% higher and the multi-core score is only 8.2% higher. The positive thing here is that the performance of the A18 is also not too far behind the A17 Pro.
It should be emphasized here that these leaked scores are probably from early test devices. We will try to do our own tests if we can comment on the iPhone 16 series later.
