The new M11-D digital camera has been introduced without screen support on the back and it's not the first time Leica has done so. To this day Leica remains faithful to its iconic minimalist design while focusing on the essentials without compromise. Leica also chose to place a large ISO control wheel on the back of the camera instead of a screen.
The Leica M11-D has a full-frame 60MP CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution technology. The same sensor has been designed exclusively for the Leica M11 range, and offers an ISO range from ISO 64 – ISO 50,000. With a 3GB cache, continuous recording of up to 5 images/second is also possible.
In addition, the camera has an internal memory of 256GB, in addition to Wi-Fi and bluetooth connection that should offer a good enough package for modern photographers. As a certified "Made for iPhone and iPad" product, it also provides a seamless connection directly to iOS devices.
Most interesting of course is the support of the Content Authenticity Initiative's (CAI) C2PA standard which was an exclusive feature for the previous M11-P model to help guarantee the authenticity of the user's digital images. Meaning people can verify whether images taken using this camera have been edited or not. If there are edits then the changes made will be known directly.
The use of the Leica FOTOS app is highly recommended for a better experience and customizable controls – including the choice between DNG and JPEG file formats can also be made through it. Weighing just 540 grams (including battery), this camera is even lighter than its predecessor. The selling price is RM50,250 in Malaysia with no further details on availability.
