LG TV Starts Showing Ads When Not In Use

Advertising is a way in which the cost of a product or service can be reduced by the producer. This can be seen on the MIUI launcher as well as streaming platforms like Prime Video. Advertisements have recently started appearing on LG smart TVs in the United States.

When detecting that the TV is not in use, a full-screen advertisement will start to appear on the TV screen in the form of a static screensaver. Advertisements started appearing at the beginning of this month. According to LG this is to test their advertising system and it may be open to other brands. At this point, ads that display LG products only.

The good news here is that this ad display feature can be turned off by the owner through the settings menu. The bad news is that we can no longer escape from advertising as it appears in all corners of life. LG isn't the only manufacturer to display ads on their smart TVs.

Samsung has been doing it for a long time but through small ads on the menu section. In Malaysia we see these ads appear every time Samsung launches their latest smartphones and electronic products. If producers insist on showing ads, they need to start giving TV away for free like Telly did two years ago.
