1BestariNet is one of the projects previously implemented under the Malaysian Ministry of Education together with YTL Communications, where 10,000 schools are equipped with high-speed internet access, as well as offering a virtual learning platform called Frog VLE. It was started in 2011, and ended in 2020.
Most recently, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started an investigation into this controversial project, and has already raided the offices of YTL Communications.
The MACC is investigating and studying to identify the witnesses who will be called to testify in assisting the investigation regarding this matter, involving a claim document containing false details involving the payment of approximately RM2.7 billion.
Previously, a 15-year contract was awarded to YTL Comms, worth RM4.1 billion.
