We have been waiting for the launch of the HBO Max video streaming platform since 2021 when the rumors about it started to be heard. HBO Max has already changed its name to Max and was launched in Japan today. The good news for users in Malaysia is that Max is confirmed to be launched in Malaysia at the end of this year.
The president of Warner Bros. Discovery APAC's James Gibbons said the launch date has not yet been finalized but is within a few weeks or months before 2024 ends.
In addition to Malaysia, Max will also be launched in Southeast Asian markets, Taiwan and Hong Kong during the same period. It will then be offered to Australian consumers in the first half of 2025. With the launch of Max, the HBO Go streaming service will end.
Although Max was launched in the United States in 2020, it was not offered globally due to licensing and content sharing issues with local companies.
